Birkenstock and Maharishi Launch Terrain-Ready Collection
Birkenstock and Maharishi have joined forces to create a collection that explores the link between nature and technology. At the centre of this collaboration is the Mogami Terra Tech, a reimagined version of Birkenstock’s archival silhouette, tailored for movement through any environment. Fusing Maharishi’s utilitarian design language with Birkenstock’s longstanding focus on functional footwear, the result is a sandal engineered for both performance and practicality.
First introduced in 2024 as part of Birkenstock’s Active Range, the Mogami is built on the brand’s anatomical footbed—a key feature designed to support natural walking. The Terra Tech version pushes this further, incorporating a waterproof sole and durable materials selected for outdoor use. Suede and nylon webbing make up the two-strap design, which is fastened with industrial-grade, quick-release buckles.
Additional features include a detachable crossbody strap and carabiners, inspired by the U.S. Army’s M.A.L.I.C.E. system. These allow the sandals to be carried hands-free when walking barefoot. Split-toe tabi socks are also offered for stability across varied climates. Colourways mimic earthy terrain, with hues drawn from natural elements like clay, foliage and soil.
The collaboration also introduces a co-branded M.A.L.I.C.E. backpack. Designed in olive and black, the expandable bag includes hidden compartments, quick-access pouches, and enough internal structure to carry devices securely. Quilted lining and smart hardware make it suitable for both rugged use and daily wear.
Shot by Tyrone Lebon, the campaign moves between Costa Rica and London, contrasting natural settings with urban backdrops to emphasise the collection’s versatility. The full collection, including the Mogami Terra Tech sandals, accessories, and backpack, will be available starting May 30 at Maharishi’s stores in London and New York, online on Mahirishi and 1774, and select Birkenstock locations.
